Welcome
Welcome! My name is Dr. Cynthia B. Riddick. It is my pleasure to be the school counselor at Dinwiddie Elementary School. As the counselor here at DES, I will be dedicated to supporting every student in reaching their fullest potential, both in and out of the classroom. My role as the school counselor involves helping students with academic and career planning, managing social and emotional challenges, as well as providing a safe, confidential space for students to discuss their concerns. I look forward to working collaboratively with everyone to create a positive and inclusive school community where every student feels valued, understood, and equipped to succeed. About Me
- I am truly honored to serve as the Professional School Counselor at Dinwiddie Elementary School. It brings me great joy to partner with students, families, and staff as we work together to foster growth, celebrate achievements—big and small—and create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
- My journey into education wasn’t my original plan. I initially dreamed of becoming a Photojournalist or a lawyer. Growing up in the Hampton Roads area, I developed a knack for defending myself and using the law to make my point—qualities that still serve me well today. My passion for understanding people and helping others led me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counseling and Education from Norfolk State University. Later, I earned my doctoral degree from Argosy University in Phoenix, Arizona, further fueling my commitment to making a positive impact. Beyond my professional life, I love traveling, spending quality time with family and friends, and embracing new experiences every day. Whether exploring new places or simply enjoying a good conversation, I believe every moment offers a chance to learn and grow.
